Women & Leadership Forum

Women & Leadership Alliance

Statement of Purpose:

  • Affirm the value of all women as leaders
  • Empower women to assume personal, professional and institutional leadership roles
  • Provide opportunities for women to develop their leadership skills
  • Promote a supportive environment for women throughout WSU

  • In 1993, a small group of faculty women met monthly to discuss leadership issues for women at Washington State University. The meetings were organized by former WSU Administrator Karen DePauw. The following year, the monthly gatherings were open to interested faculty, staff, and students. Meetings were held over WHETS to facilitate the involvement of WSU faculty, staff, and students located throughout the university system. These gatherings provided the beginnings for the WLA and the Forum. Support came from the Provost Office.

WLA also sponsors an electronic mailing list to foster dialogue and exchange ideas concerning women and leadership, as well as inform subscribers of leadership development opportunities and activities of interest. To subscribe to the list, go to the Mailman subscription page at http://lists.wsu.edu/join.php, enter your information, type women-leaders in the list name box and click join list.
