Outstanding Mentor Awards
The awards began in 2005 in conjunction with the 10th Annual Women
& Leadership Forum sponsored by the Women & Leadership Alliance.
More than 65 nominations were received, with all nominees being
recognized at the Forum and in the Outstanding Mentors Stories booklet
given to all attendees.
The success of
that first Outstanding Mentor award encouraged the committee to
send out a 2nd call in 2006. This gives students, staff, and faculty
an opportunity to recognize a WSU employee who has filled the special
role of mentor in their academic and/or professional career. The
program recognizes both formal and informal mentoring accomplishments
at WSU.
Nominations are
now being accepted and all nominees will be recognized during the
awards ceremony at this year’s Forum. ANYONE at WSU,
both male and female, is eligible. One nominee in each
of five categories – Student, Civil Service Staff, Administrative
Professional Staff, Teaching Faculty, and Research Faculty –
will receive the Mentor of the Year award.
Deadline for submission of nominations is March 7, 2008. Questions can be directed to Vickie Chalmers at vchalmer@wsu.edu.
